My First Pregnancy Journey: Feeling My Baby Move And Kick

Daily Short Blog #8

Being pregnant for the very first time is quite terrifying yet really exciting. I and my husband has been trying for a baby for about 6 months after I stopped taking birth control pills. The wait was disturbingly longer than we expected but that long wait was over when we found out that, finally, we conceived a baby!

It was crazy to think that there was another life living inside you, growing more and more each day. I am sharing my whole pregnancy journey which you can also check now:

My First Pregnancy Journey

“A baby fills a place in your heart that you never knew was empty.”

It was 16th November 2021 when we had our 2nd ultrasound. At this time, the baby got unexpectedly bigger, and me and my husband were really shocked, perhaps the reason why I got all those difficult symptoms recently.

During the ultrasound, we were able to see the baby on the monitor and hear its heartbeat. It’s so alive and there was a lot of kicking, it even looked somersaulting inside my womb. The feeling was inexplicably wonderful. The Doctor said everything is fine and nothing to worry about. All the cramps and other symptoms I was feeling were all normal.

This was also the time when I was on my 12th week of pregnancy or 3rd month and this was when I felt my baby’s first little kicks, or what they call flutters or “quickening“.

The moment I felt the flutter on my lower abdomen was exhilarating. I could describe it as having some bubbles popping down my stomach but it was truly different from gas. I couldn’t explain the difference, but I’m truly sure that it was my baby’s first kicks and I couldn’t be mistaken.

“Motherhood: The only place you can experience heaven and hell at the same time.”

Others describe first baby kicks to feel like flutters, gas bubbles, tumbling, a light tickle, a painless “zapping” feeling, a light flicking, or a gentle thud or tap. It has been said that as the baby grows, movements will become much more pronounced and it will be felt more frequently.

Moreover, quickening is also the first sign that the baby is beginning to move. According to NHS, the baby should be felt moving around 6 to 24 weeks of pregnancy. If this is the first pregnancy, movements might not be felt until after 20 weeks. [mfn] Your baby’s movements – NHS [/mfn]

“You are pregnant and you are powerful. You are bold and you are beautiful. Go forward in your boldness, in your beauty and in your contentedness. Trust your body to birth and know that the collective power of women worldwide will be with you.”

All in all, we are just too excited, I couldn’t explain how thrilled we are for our upcoming baby girl. And yes, it’s a bay girl, our little princess is coming soon! We are hoping for her best health as always until delivery and as she grows up. We actually have a name for her already, and we will be revealing it soon!
