Hello there my fellow crochet lovers! I have been longing to make a product using the Chevron stitch ever since. It’s an easy pattern, plus it’s very pleasing to the eye. With this pattern, you can make blankets, table runners, door mats, curtains or anything under the sun.
Apparently, since I’ve found out that we’re gonna have a baby, I have decided to make a baby blanket using this stitch. However, in the middle of making it, I had second thoughts thinking baby blankets should always be light in color, not only to see if there are insects crawling into them but also, light colors look good with babies! And unfortunately, I used a combination of black and red yarns when I started and realized when I’m already on half of making the project.
So, I turned the project into a table runner instead of a baby blanket, and it worked great!
I have written the whole pattern on this blog and I’m hoping you’ll like it. The pattern itself is actually repetitive, you’ll be able to memorize it right after the 2nd Row! You can even do it with eyes closed. Haha! Hope you like this pattern…
Legend:

Start
Make a slip knot, CH – 162 (or any multiple of 27’s as it will make 1 ‘V’ or chevron), then add 5 more chains
Row 1
Skip 1 st, SC – 2, skip 1 st,
***SC – 12, SC – 3 on the next 1 st, SC – 12, skip 2 sts,***
***repeat this pattern to complete the row***
at the end, SC – 2 on the last st
Row 2
CH – 1, turn your work around, SC – 1 on the 1st st,
***SC – 12, SC – 3 on the same 1 st, SC – 12, skip 2 sts***
***repeat the pattern to complete the row***
at the end, SC – 2 on the last st
Row 3 and onwards
Repeat Row 1 and 2 alternatively until desired length has been reached.
You may change colors every after 6 rows just like what I’ve did or as desired
End
You may finish your work by cutting the yarn and weaving the ends from the last row and the sides of the blanket. You might want to weave a long end of yarn since this is a blanket and will be used for long time.
You may continue the doing the pattern as many rows as you like based on your desired length. You may also use plain-colored yarns and switch colors every after few number of rows. For sure, it would turn out really cute too!
Here’s the end product:
Size: (to update soon)
Color: Black and Red

This was my Nana’s favorite stitch! She made so many blankets with it.
That’s a really nice piece. I’ve always been a big fan of chevron patterns with crochet pieces.
Beautiful work with this one. Love the colors.
I love the end product. Black and red are my two favorite colors so this is a perfect combination!
Crochet is something Ive always wanted to try as a hobby. This might be my first project!
It would have been a pretty baby blanket. It is a fabulous table runner.
It would have been a pretty baby blanket. It is also a fabulous table runner!
Wow, the finished look is amazing, I haven’t done any of this type of work. But reading the process, it seem fun
The final product design looks good. Also thanks for adding in why babies blankets need to be light color. I didn’t know the insect part.
This is really nice. It’s been a while since I did some crochet and would love to do so again once I have the time. Thank you for sharing this beautiful pattern. Will have this as future reference.
Gorgeous and thank you for the pattern! I’ve recently started working with wool again 😀
I love this pattern! Such a nice project. I haven’t crocheted before and this looks like a good project to try.
