After a thorough research, I was horrified to learn that tampons, pads and panty liners amount to 200,000 tonnes of unrecycled waste every year. And menstrual cups are one of the latest trend in sustainability. Using the flexible, reusable silicone cups can replace hundreds of tampons or pads each year alone. This is one of the main reasons why I started to love using one!
How do you choose which menstrual cup to buy?
Every person’s body is different and therefore, there isn’t one best menstrual cup for everyone. There are three factors to take into consideration when deciding which menstrual cup is best for you.
Flow: Many cups specify if they’re best if you have a light or heavy flow. If you are unsure, we recommend starting with the smaller sizes and working your way up if needed.
Birthing history: If you have ever given birth vaginally, many brands will recommend certain sizes for a better fit.
Cervix height: To determine your cervix height, you can insert your index finger (after thoroughly washing your hands first) into your vagina. Reaching up to your “first knuckle means low cervix, further means higher cervix.” Cervix height may change throughout your cycle, so it’s best to measure when you’re menstruating.
My First Menstrual Cup
I bought my first cup from Amazon.com by Jadole Naturals. I tried to use it for once cycle and yes, it was good, no leaks but the only problem was that I was having a hard time putting it in due to its Large size. Every time I need to put it inside, even when I’m removing it, I was really having a very difficult time.
Thus, I searched for a smaller cup with a better size, and that’s how I found my best friend!
The Feel Free Biocompatible Cervical Shape Menstrual Cup (Pink, Smal)
At first, I looked online searching for the different shapes of cups and I found this peculiar-looking cup in Amazon.com. The price was almost the same as my first cup and it has an abundant number of positive reviews so I ordered and bought one.
Based on its product description, this cup:
- is Bio-Compatible
- has Cervical shaped body balancing design
- made up of High grade medical silicone
- provides 8-10 hours of protection depends on flow
- will give you no pain, no stress and no irritation
And, this is my honest review:
Cervical shaped design. It’s shape significantly helped me when using the cup, either when putting and removing it. I use the C-fold technique when putting inside as it is more convenient for me. Before when I was using my first cup, it took me 3 to 5 minutes just to put it inside, but with this cup, it takes me just few seconds in order to properly put it in place.
Small size. I have chosen this size as I have small to medium flow volume. But, if you have more, then they have medium and large sizes too!
High grade medical silicone material. The material used on making this cup is way better than the sanitary napkins I have been using since ever before.
No hassle. All menstrual cups, if placed properly, will always be unnoticeable, will give you no leaks and no irritation. Since I started using this cup, I sleep very sound and well, compared to my situation before wherein I always develop itchy and painful rashes resulting to my sleep deprivation.

Grips on stem for easy removal. It also has a thin yet longer stem for easy and fast removal. Of course, you still have to pinch the base in order to remove the suction effect, though it’s totally painless!
Great for beginners. Just like me, a first-time who transitioned from disposable pads to napkins, this product is really great, very easy and convenient to use. It gives you less hassle and carefree, I even forget that I’m on my period!
Cost-effective. Aside from the money I’m saving from buying several packs of sanitary napkins which I was using before, the price of a cup is just around $ 14 to $ 15! And it’s ready to use for several years.
A lot of proven positive customer reviews online. I can say, this is also one of the factors that made me buy this product. Well, not only for this but whenever I buy any product online, I always consider the customer reviews. And this one, though there are a number of negative responses yet the positive ones outweigh them.
All in all:
This product had given the day-and-night comfort I need ever since and freedom to do the things I wish to do even during my periods. I would continue to use it as long as I’m happy, comfortable and healthy! 🙂
I would love to hear from you!
