Crochet Baby Dress ‘Minnie Mouse’: Free Pattern

Hello there my fellow crochet lovers!

Ever since, I and my husband found out that we’re going to have a baby girl, I couldn’t stop myself but to create crochet items for our little one – may it be a blanket, a dress, a bonnet, or anything.

Now, I have just finished this dress for our baby and it turned out so cute and comfy! The pattern itself is actually repetitive. Using the double and triple crochet stitches, this product will make a unique, eye-catchy yet really cute garment. Plus, it’s based on Minnie Mouse’s outfit!

I have written the whole pattern on this blog and I’m hoping you’ll like it. The pattern is totally easy and beginner-friendly, you’ll be able to memorize it right after few rows! You can even do it with eyes closed. Haha! Hope you like this pattern…

sl st

Row 2 to Row 5

CH – 2, Dc – 1 on all chains around,
make DC – 2, CH – 2, DC – 2 on each corner made from the previous row
*** repeat this pattern to complete every row ***

Row 6

On this row, we will be closing the sleeves.

CH – 2, DC -1 on each st until you reach the 1st corner, then join the two CH – 2 spaces together by making DC – 1 (this should make the 1st hole for the sleeve),

DC – 1 on each st until you reach the next corner, then join the two CH – 2 spaces together by making DC – 1 (this should make the 2nd hole for the sleeve),

then, DC – 1 on each st to complete the row,
sl st to the very first DC from this row to connect the two sides of the dress together.

Row 7 to Row 10

CH – 2, DC – 1 on 1st st until the end of the row
*** repeat this pattern to complete every row ***

Cut the yarn, then fasten off.

Row 11 to Row 12

Attach the white yarn, SC – 1 on all st until the end of the row
*** repeat this pattern to complete every row ***

Cut the yarn, then fasten off.

then, sl st

Row 14

CH – 3,
(TC – 1 on next st, TC – 1 on next st, TC – 2 on next st)
*** repeat this pattern to complete the row ***

Row 15

  • Change your hook size into 4.5 mm (optional). This will increase the volume of the lower of part of dress.
  • We will not do any more increases on the following rows, just make TC – 1 on each st to complete each row.
  • Keep adding rows until desired length has been reached. For this project, I made total of 8 rows for the lower part.

The Finishing

Once your desired length has been reached, make CH – 1,

(SC – 1 on next st, skip 2 st, DC – 5 on the next st, skip 2 st)
*** repeat this pattern to complete the last row ***

However, this last row pattern is optional. Actually, I didn’t do this on my project. But to soften and improve the bottom edges, you may do this as per your preference.

The Sleeves

  • Attach red yarn from the back part of the dress, make DC – 1 to complete the row.
  • Then, you may change the hook to 2.5 mm (optional), make DC – 1 to complete the row.

The Neckline

  • Use 4.0mm Hook and make SC around the neckline to soften the edges. You may leave few holes for the buttons; I left 2 holes for 2 buttons for this project.

The White Dots

  • By using the white yarn and your 4.5 mm hook, make a magic circle, CH – 1, HDC – 9 into the the circle, then sl st.
  • Make as many as you need to cover the lower part of the dress as well as the sleeves; I made around 20 white dots for this product.
  • Sew these dots on the dress.

Here’s the end product:
