Do you think you really have enough time to do it? Do you actually want greenery in your home considering your situation?

Come to think of it. There are enormous health benefits of having plants inside your home. These benefits are totally worth the work of spending a little time to water and feed the plants.

Having heard of the few benefits, you might want to see if it is proven to improve your air quality or if it really improves your mental well-being. No worries! Researchers have looked into these claims and formulated an answer. And here’s what they found out:

Studies have shown that indoor plants:

1. Help Improves Mental Health

It boosts mood, productivity, concentration and creativity. Just by looking at the greeneries at home helps you feel much happier. Moreover, if you live in the center of the city, it helps you feel less boxed in.

2. Boosts the Immune System

Adding plants to home as well as office settings decreases fatigue, colds, headaches, coughs, sore throats and flu-like symptoms.

3. Improves Sense of Productivity

It’s all about how you organize your abode. More picture frames, decorations and plants, the higher the productivity a workspace can be. You would be reminded of what your goals are and the reason what you are working for.

4. Enhances Air Quality

Clean indoor air by absorbing toxins, increasing humidity and producing oxygen. Plants scientifically release oxygen into the air and take up the carbon dioxide which humans produce in return and plants utilize it for them to grow. When you have plants at home, more oxygen is produced which therefore means that the air is naturally beneficial and more efficient.

5. Create Livelier Surroundings

Plants help in adding colors to a dull room and sterile office making it a dynamic environment. Places with plants are quieter and more relaxed but, at the same time, more stimulating and interesting.

6. Improves Relationships

They are therapeutic and cheaper than a therapist. When you get plants, you get a sense of compassion. There’s another living thing in your home to care for. You end up feeling empathy for the plants, which can then lead to a sense of compassion and empathy for other people in your life.

7. Improves Learning Abilities

Adults will have more focus on their work and college tasks, while children find it easier to learn the basics. Plants help to keep the feeling of insecurities and overwhelm at bay. Because of their calming nature, a person can look and feel naturally calmer themselves. This then leads to improving the focus and ability to master a subject.

8. Helps Eradicate Pollution and Aids in Purification

Plants remove toxins from air –up to 87% of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) every 24 hours, according to NASA research. VOCs include substances like formaldehyde (present in rugs, vinyl, cigarette smoke and grocery bags), benzene and trichloroethylene (both found in man-made fibers, inks, solvents and paint). The NASA research discovered that plants purify that trapped air by pulling contaminants into soil, where root zone microorganisms convert VOCs into food for the plant.

9. Help Lower Background Noise

According to a study, plants and their leaves absorb, diffract or reflect background noise, thereby making the environment more comfortable for the occupants.  They have found that certain plants are particularly good at absorbing high frequencies. Furthermore, plants absorb sound best in acoustically live spaces, such as those that feature hard surfaces. 10. Increases Air Humidity

As part of the natural photosynthesis, plants release moisture vapor, which increases humidity of the air around them. Plants release roughly 97% of the water they take in. Place several plants together, and you can increase the humidity of a room, which helps keeps respiratory distresses at bay. Studies at the Agricultural University of Norway document that using plants in interior spaces decreases the incidence of dry skin, colds, sore throats and dry coughs.

Make your home a tranquil place by placing some cacti or succulents as a start. It will not only beautify your room but it will also improve your health and well-being.
