Feel Free Menstrual Cup: Product Review

For years, disposable pads and panty liners were simply part of my monthly routine. Like many women, I never really questioned how much waste my period products created until I started researching more sustainable alternatives.

That’s when I discovered menstrual cups.

A menstrual cup is a reusable period product, usually made from flexible medical-grade silicone, that collects menstrual blood rather than absorbing it. Because the same cup can be cleaned and reused for years, it can significantly reduce the number of disposable period products a person uses.

That was one of the biggest reasons I became interested in trying one.

I was also tired of dealing with the itching, discomfort, and skin irritation I sometimes experienced from sanitary pads. I wanted something that would give me more freedom during my period without constantly worrying about changing pads.

After trying one cup that wasn’t quite right for me, I eventually discovered the Feel Free Menstrual Cup.

And this is my personal experience with it.

How Do You Choose the Right Menstrual Cup?

One important thing I learned before buying a menstrual cup is that there isn’t one perfect cup for everyone.

Our bodies are different, and the right cup depends on several factors, including your menstrual flow, cervix height, pelvic anatomy, and whether you’ve given birth vaginally.

Flow

Some menstrual cups are designed for lighter or heavier menstrual flow.

When you’re unsure, checking the manufacturer’s size and capacity recommendations can help.

Birthing History

Some brands recommend different sizes depending on whether you have given birth vaginally.

This isn’t a universal rule, though, so it’s still important to look at the manufacturer’s sizing guide rather than choosing a cup based on this factor alone.

Cervix Height

Your cervix height can also affect which cup feels comfortable.

It can change throughout your cycle, so you may notice that a cup feels different at different times of the month.

If you’re unsure about your anatomy or whether a particular cup is appropriate for you, it’s perfectly reasonable to ask a healthcare professional for advice.

My First Menstrual Cup

Before discovering Feel Free, I bought my first menstrual cup from Amazon. It was a Jadole Naturals cup.

I used it for one menstrual cycle and, honestly, it worked.

There were no leaks, which was already a major improvement over what I had experienced with pads.

But I had one major problem:

It was too large for me.

Every time I inserted it, it took several minutes to get it into a comfortable position.

Removing it was even more challenging.

I would spend quite a bit of time trying to get the cup out, and the whole process became stressful.

I knew menstrual cups weren’t supposed to feel like that.

So I decided to look for a smaller cup with a different shape.

And that’s how I found what eventually became my favorite menstrual cup.

The Feel Free Biocompatible Cervical-Shape Menstrual Cup

The product I found was the Feel Free Biocompatible Cervical-Shape Menstrual Cup in Small.

I came across it while searching online for different menstrual cup shapes and sizes.

Its design immediately caught my attention because it looked quite different from my first cup.

The price was also relatively similar to the first one I purchased, and there were many positive customer reviews, so I decided to give it a try.

According to the product description, it features:

  • A cervical-shaped body
  • Medical-grade silicone
  • A flexible design
  • A longer stem for removal
  • Extended protection depending on menstrual flow

Of course, those are product claims from the manufacturer/seller, so my review below is based on my own experience using it.

My Honest Feel Free Menstrual Cup Review

1. Cervical-Shaped Design

This was probably the biggest difference between my first cup and the Feel Free cup.

The shape made it much easier for me to insert and remove.

I personally use the C-fold technique because I find it convenient.

With my first cup, insertion could take around three to five minutes.

With the Feel Free cup, I was able to insert it in just a few seconds once I got used to the technique.

For me, that was a huge improvement.

2. Small Size

I chose the small size because my menstrual flow is relatively light to moderate.

It felt more comfortable for me than the larger cup I had previously used.

However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the small size is best for everyone.

If your flow is heavier or your anatomy requires a different fit, a larger size may be more appropriate.

Always check the manufacturer’s sizing guide before purchasing.

3. Medical-Grade Silicone

The cup is made from silicone designed for menstrual use.

Compared with disposable sanitary pads, I personally preferred the feeling of using the cup because there was no bulky material against my skin.

I also appreciated not having to worry about the adhesive or surface irritation I sometimes experienced with pads.

4. Less Hassle During My Period

When inserted correctly, the cup became something I barely noticed.

That was probably my favorite part.

Before using a cup, I often dealt with:

  • Itching
  • Skin irritation
  • Discomfort
  • Worrying about leaks
  • Changing pads frequently
  • Running out of sanitary products

With the Feel Free cup, I felt much more comfortable.

It also allowed me to sleep more peacefully during my period because I wasn’t constantly worried about whether my pad was going to shift or leak.

5. Easy Removal With the Stem

The cup has a relatively long, thin stem that helped me locate it when I needed to remove it.

However, one important thing I learned is that you should never simply pull a menstrual cup out by the stem.

Instead, gently pinch the base of the cup to release the suction before removing it.

Once I learned this technique, removal became much easier and more comfortable.

6. Great for Beginners

I was transitioning from disposable sanitary pads to a reusable menstrual cup, so I was initially nervous.

But once I learned how to insert, remove, clean, and position it properly, I found the Feel Free cup surprisingly convenient.

I eventually reached the point where I would sometimes forget that I was even having my period.

Of course, there is a learning curve.

It can take a few cycles to become comfortable with inserting and removing a menstrual cup, and that’s completely normal.

Don’t expect to get everything right on your first attempt.

7. Cost-Effective

Another major advantage for me was the cost.

Instead of purchasing several packs of sanitary pads every month, I could use one reusable cup repeatedly.

That meant less recurring spending and, importantly, less disposable waste.

The actual lifespan of a menstrual cup depends on the product, care, and manufacturer recommendations, so it’s best to follow the instructions that come with your particular cup.

8. Positive Customer Reviews Helped Me Decide

When I was researching which cup to buy, I paid close attention to customer reviews.

Of course, I know that reviews are subjective.

What works wonderfully for one person may not work for another.

Still, reading about other women’s experiences helped me compare the cup with other options and gave me confidence to try it.

Ultimately, though, it was my own experience that convinced me to continue using it.

How I Clean and Care for My Menstrual Cup

One of the most important things about using a menstrual cup is proper hygiene.

After removing the cup, I wash it thoroughly according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

At the end of my menstrual cycle, I also sterilize it according to the product’s care instructions before storing it.

It’s important to wash your hands before inserting or removing the cup and to follow the manufacturer’s recommended cleaning method.

Don’t use harsh chemicals or heavily scented products that aren’t intended for menstrual cups.

Proper hygiene is essential because, although menstrual cups are generally considered safe when used correctly, poor hygiene or improper use can increase the risk of infection.

What I Like Most About the Feel Free Cup

After using it, the biggest advantages for me were:

Comfort: I barely noticed it was there.

Less irritation: I didn’t experience the same pad-related skin irritation.

Convenience: I didn’t need to carry several pads around with me.

Confidence: I felt more secure about leaks when the cup was properly positioned.

Cost savings: I wasn’t buying disposable products every month.

Less waste: One reusable cup can replace many disposable menstrual products.

And perhaps most importantly:

Freedom.

I could sleep, walk around, work, and go about my day without constantly thinking about my period.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind

Even though I loved using my cup, I don’t want to make it sound perfect for everyone.

A menstrual cup can take some practice.

You need to become comfortable with insertion and removal.

You also need access to clean water or an appropriate way to clean the cup, particularly when you’re away from home.

Some women may also find that a particular cup is simply uncomfortable because of its size, firmness, length, or shape.

That was exactly what happened to me with my first cup.

So don’t assume that the first cup you buy will automatically be the right one.

Sometimes it takes a little trial and error.

My Overall Verdict

After trying two different cups, the Feel Free Small Menstrual Cup was the one that worked best for me.

The smaller size and cervical-shaped design made insertion and removal much easier than with my first, larger cup.

It gave me the comfort and freedom I was looking for, and it helped me move away from disposable sanitary pads.

That said, this is my personal review, not a universal recommendation.

A menstrual cup that fits me perfectly may not fit someone else.

So when choosing one, consider your own anatomy, menstrual flow, comfort, and the manufacturer’s sizing recommendations.

Final Thoughts

Discovering menstrual cups was honestly a game changer for me.

I started with uncertainty.

Then came the first cup.

It worked, but it wasn’t comfortable.

Instead of giving up, I tried another one.

And eventually, I found the Feel Free cup that worked much better for me.

That experience taught me something important:

Sometimes, you don’t need to give up on an idea—you simply need to find the version that works for you.

Periods are already enough of an inconvenience. The right menstrual product shouldn’t make them even harder.

For me, the Feel Free cup gave me something I didn’t realize I was missing:

freedom, comfort, confidence, and a little less worry every month.

“Sometimes the smallest changes can make the biggest difference in our everyday lives.”

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.”
— Proverbs 31:25

My journey with menstrual cups wasn’t perfect from the beginning.

My first cup was too large.

I struggled with insertion.

I struggled with removal.

I almost thought that menstrual cups simply weren’t for me.

But then I tried again.

And that second experience completely changed my perspective.

The Feel Free cup became something I looked forward to using every month instead of something I dreaded.

It’s funny how something as small as a menstrual cup can make such a noticeable difference in your routine.

It reminded me that taking care of yourself doesn’t always mean doing something big or expensive.

Sometimes it’s simply finding a small solution that makes everyday life a little easier and a lot more comfortable.

And for me, this little cup did exactly that. ❤️

One More Thing

Menstrual cups aren’t for everyone, and that’s completely okay. There are many menstrual products available, including pads, tampons, and period underwear. The best choice is the one that is safe, comfortable, and suitable for your body and lifestyle.

And if you’re experiencing unusual pain, persistent irritation, recurrent infections, or difficulty using a menstrual cup, it’s worth speaking with a healthcare professional.

Have you tried a menstrual cup?

I’d love to hear about your experience. What brand do you use, and what made you choose it?
