These were some of the very first Finnish reviewers I created when I started learning the language.
My Finnish studies began while I was still living and working full-time in Dubai. I studied online through NLRC as part of my Finnish-language training connected with Silkkitie.
At that time, Finnish was completely new to me.
Even simple things like verb endings, negative sentences, cases, directions, and everyday expressions felt like a lot to remember. 😅
So I started making my own reviewers.
I printed lessons, rewrote notes, highlighted important words, created simple examples, and tried to organize difficult topics in a way that was easier for me to understand.
These materials became part of my everyday Finnish-learning routine.
Some I reviewed repeatedly.
Some I printed and kept beside me while studying.
And some I had to go back to many times before they finally started making sense.
Little by little, they helped me build the foundation I later needed for everyday Finnish, my YKI preparation, my studies, and eventually working in Finland.
How These Reviewers Helped Me
When I first started learning Finnish, I quickly realized that reading something once was usually not enough.
I needed repetition.
A lot of repetition. 😅
So I used these reviewers to:
- repeat vocabulary
- practise sentence structures
- review grammar
- remember verb forms
- understand everyday expressions
- create my own example sentences
- prepare for benchmark tasks
- practise speaking and writing
- go back to topics I had forgotten
Sometimes I understood a lesson during class…
then forgot half of it the next day. 😂
That is why having my own notes and reviewers helped me so much.
I could return to them whenever I needed.

These Are Personal Reviewers
These materials reflect how I personally studied and understood the lessons at that time.
I am also still learning Finnish, so there may occasionally be:
- small mistakes
- wording that could be expressed differently
- examples that are simplified
- notes that reflect my own way of remembering a topic
Please use them as supplementary study materials, not as a replacement for a Finnish teacher, textbook, official course material, or other reliable Finnish-language resource.
If something seems unclear, it is always a good idea to verify it with a teacher or another trusted Finnish-language source.
More Reviewers & Study Materials
These reviewers are based on the lessons and benchmark tasks I studied during my online Finnish course with NLRC through Silkkitie.
I created them for my own practice and I’m sharing them to help other Finnish learners.
These are my personal study materials, not official NLRC or Silkkitie course materials, and they are:
FOR PERSONAL LEARNING USE ONLY – NOT FOR SALE

You are very welcome to share the link to this page with other Finnish learners so they can access the materials directly from Pinoy Up North. 💚
More Materials Are Coming
I still have more reviewers and remaining units from my NLRC/Silkkitie studies that I have not yet uploaded.
I will continue organizing and adding them little by little.
So if you are using these materials, feel free to come back from time to time and check for new additions.
