Learning Finnish has been one of the most challenging parts of my journey, but it has also been one of the most rewarding.
I started studying Finnish while we were still living in Dubai, before we even moved to Finland. After arriving here, I continued learning through classes, self-study, work, and everyday conversations.
Over time, I collected a lot of notes.
Some are neatly organized.
Some are screenshots.
Some came straight from my notebook.
And some probably only made perfect sense to me when I wrote them. 😅
But these simple notes became useful reminders whenever I needed to review grammar, vocabulary, word endings, or expressions that I kept forgetting.
Instead of keeping all of them hidden inside my notebooks, phone, and computer folders, I decided to organize some of them here.
These are my personal Finnish study notes and learning summaries, not official teaching materials.
If they can make one Finnish grammar rule or vocabulary topic a little easier for another learner, then I’m happy to share them. 💚
Why I Keep Making Finnish Notes
When I started learning Finnish, there was simply too much information for me to remember at once.
Verb forms.
Cases.
Endings.
Numbers.
Pronouns.
Prepositions.
And words that seemed to completely change depending on how they were being used. 😅
Writing things down helped me slow everything down.
Sometimes I copied an example into my notebook and added my own reminders beside it.
Sometimes I created little charts.
Sometimes I took screenshots so I could quickly look at the information again later.
I especially liked having visual reminders that I could return to without reading an entire lesson again.
These notes were never meant to become a textbook.
They were simply part of the way I learned Finnish.
These Notes Are Part of My Finnish Journey
Looking back at these pages also reminds me how much Finnish I once had to learn from the very beginning.
Some topics that seemed impossible before eventually became familiar because I saw and used them again and again.
That doesn’t mean I remember everything now. 😅
I still forget words.
I still check grammar.
I still misunderstand things sometimes.
And I still keep notes.
For me, learning Finnish has never been about memorizing everything perfectly.
It has been about learning something, practising it, forgetting part of it, reviewing it, and trying again.

More Finnish Notes Are Coming
I still have more handwritten notes, screenshots, vocabulary reminders, and little grammar guides saved from different stages of my Finnish studies.
I’ll continue organizing the useful ones and adding them here little by little.
Some future topics may include:
- Finnish cases
- expressions of time
- number endings
- pronouns
- conjunctions
- adjectives and adverbs
- vocabulary
- puhekieli
- everyday expressions
- other grammar reminders
Basically, anything that made me say:
“I need to write this down or I’m going to forget it.” 😂
